Why this blog

 A childhood friend, no longer with us, once told me that he appreciated the short, philosphical "stories", I wrote in my late teens, about meaning and truth. I never gave it much thought. I wrote them for no one in particular, and mostly to collect my own thougts, and create some sort of order and understanding.  We lived separate lives in a big city for 10 years without any contact. When I moved out of the city and became a father, I wrote to him on facebook on his birthday, and his former colleague wrote back, explaining his recent fate.  My life took place far from him. Regrets don't make sense, other than supporting a negative way of thinking. If anything though, it does nourish my longing for understanding, to say that I regret not having sought his friendship in the important, early  years of adulthood.
